My contributions are driven by 3 factors - 1) Help those in need 2) Discover new ideas and techniques 3) Keep my iRule knowledge going.

BIO

My IT career spans nearly 20 years, but I began my career as a TV News producer, then technology columnist, then web site administrator, and then Information Security specialist. I currently work for a very large financial services company as an IT Strategist. I've implemented or had experience with most of the F5 product catalog at this point (Firepass, ASM, APM, WAM, LTM, GTM). I specialize in deep networking topics and what someone I work with calls "extreme troubleshooting".

I work for a large financial company as a Web Systems Engineer. I have an extensive background in networking, but happily transitioned over to "Systems" about 5 years ago and have been loving it ever since. It was because of my networking background that I was chosen as one of the initial F5 Administrators when the were purchased and introduced into our environments. I must say that it was one of the best decisions I've seen. Companies that only use these devices as mere load balancers are wasting an awesome tool that is a Swiss Army Knife of IT. In my spare time I enjoy .NET Web Development, C# Thick Client Development, Golf, and in recent years I've learned to appreciate reading.

Well here goes… I started working my IT magic at a fairly large financial firm, right after college. My career started at the Helpdesk, it was actually a part-time position, little did I know that it would evolve into what it is today. So, six years later… Yes, five years later I am now in charge of the Remote Access infrastructure. "Insert happy statement here". Over the course of my five year period I have had a chance to work with numerous F5 products. This includes Big-IP, ASM, Firepass…Fortunately I am stuck on the Firepass. Did I just really say that? ;)

Is there such a thing as the F5 family? Remember those times when the family would just argue? Well, let's just say we have had those problems and looked for some crazy solutions. Most of the time, the solution have come from a random post on DevCentral. Just looking to pay back the favor.

Biography
I've been in the networking field for 10+ years. I had my start in Application delivery with Cisco and the product they purchased from ArrowPoint, then called by Cisco the Content Smart Switch (CSS). The product worked, but it was cumbersome when it came to global availability, among other things... That's about the time I fell in love with F5's Local Traffic Manager and Global Traffic Manager. We fleshed out our DC's with a hearty helping of LTMs & GTMs and the rest is History.

Where do I plug in on DC?
The bulk of my time on DevCentral is spent in the Wiki's & the Forums, namely the Advanced Design and Configuration & iRules. With the help of some great people on the forum and the vast amount of literature available here, I've been getting into iRules more and more over the past few years..

What do I do for food?
I'm currently working as an ADC Engineer for a Large Financial Institution.

Hobbies
When I'm not working I enjoy reading, working out, music & sound engineering, snowboarding, golf, and Squash.
