Hi All, I'm looking for a deployment guide of F5 with Hyperion 9.3.1 (BI Plus services). Has anyone done this before? Basically I'm looking to load balance the BI Plus services by installing the instance on another machine. Since this is not supported internally, I'm looking to use F5 for this purpose. Any inputs? Regards, Gerd |

Yes. We have deployed Hyperion app using LTM. As I am network engineer, I have little/no knowledge on application configuration. I can try and help you with LTM related questions if any. The config was pretty simple though. |

Hi Sly, I am planning to do a migration from Hyperion Planning Sys 9 to Sys 11 but have come to know that there are some port conflicts that happen during the process. We use F5 load balancer. Can u throw some light on this? |

It would be helpfu to get more details on your ports, servers, and virtuals. Perhaps you could include your current bigip.conf file contents, and then a description of your migration plan. I'm sure we can come up with a way to get you up and running for the migration. -Chris. |

We have also been working on using the F5 as a reverse proxy for the Hyperion stack. So far, things have been pretty successful. We setup separate pools for each port on the host handling the different components. We have build iRules to assign the active pool based on the path in the URI. The problem we are still facing has to do with the JAR files for the EASConsole. It seems that it is not launching the jar files. Almost as if it can not find it. We have configured a general stream profile, which we used with our EBS environments. If anyone has a Hyperion deployment guide for Big-ip, that would be most helpful. |

Unfortunately, we currrently do not have any documentation on configuring F5 BIG-IP with Hyperion. However, we are deployed with dozens of customers and the feedback from F5 Field Systems Engineers is that the deployments are straightforward and do not require much, if anything special. For example, we recently deployed BIG-IP LTM and WebAccelerator with a customer and the Level 2 poliy for WebAccelerator worked out of the box. If someone is willing to share their BIG-IP config file, we will work with you to develop and publish a deployment guide. Just reach out to me at r.carovano@f5.com Ron |
