As I try to wrap things up and wind down a bit for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the states I'm busy working on coordinating Turkey Day, wrapping things up here for the holiday weekend, and my travel that follows. I'll be in Japan next week with our awesome team there, and I'm looking forward to meeting any of you that might be attending the User Group meeting there that I'll be speaking at. If anyone has any good tips on where to go or not go, what to see and do, etc., I'd love to hear them....

As some of the more astute, frequent DevCentral fliers may have noticed, there was no 20 Lines or Less this week. Fear not, brave souls. I was out on some planned vacation to bring some high-powered Rock N' Roll to the masses. I'm back now, of course, and you can expect the 20LoL to hit this week as normal. I was reading an interesting post over at depressedprogrammer that I found by way of digg's Technology section which talked about Captchas. Specifically the worst Captcha known to man.
I haven't a shred of doubt that you all, by now, are intimately familiar with the foul evil that is the Captcha. This woefully necessary evil's howling cries shake my very soul with the implications they put forth. While their previous necessity and usefulness is not lost on me, their ability to crush even the strongest vestiges of user enjoyment and ease of use must not be overlooked.

Geeks are prone to many things. Some would say hubris, sarcasm and a love for computers defines us. Wikipedia seems to think it's glasses, comic books and computer games (scary accurate, in my case, minus the glasses). One thing that many different sources seem to agree on as a common theme among geeks is toys. Action figures, cube goodies, puzzles, and especially R/C toys. Combining a love of childhood exuberance with a love of technology, R/C toys have long been a favorite Geekism of mine, though woefully neglected in recent years due to this whole "adulthood" thing sapping too...
