DC Post of the Week - Persistence and Pool Member State

Persistence & Pool Member State

This week Deb & Colin take a look at a post from the Advanced Design & Configuration General Discussion forum

The post Problem with SSL termination on LTM... actually turned out to be about something else: How LTM manages persistent connections for pool members in a "Disabled" state.

Watch the video for a discussion of the real issue the poster encountered and the probable path to resolution.

Gravatar The issue described here is largely a UI issue as the administrator isn't presented the "Disable" and "Force Down" option on the same page. I've had to teach other admins the difference and where to find the proper option. This may be learned behavior due to 4.x having both on the same page. I would suggest having both options available at the same UI location in 9.x or a pop up that asks when disabling if the user wishes to disable "new" connections or "force down" the system terminating new and current sessions as well as the corresponding persistence records.

I like the forum and video for "Post of the Week". Keep up the good work!
