THE LITTLE GYM AND TODDLER HERD-THINK Lori and I take the Toddler to the Little Gym, a place for toddlers to go hang out with other toddlers and do some semi-directed activities designed to build confidence and muscle. We think it’s really very good for him, and he  attends with his cousin (a Cisco Spawn – Shhhh), so he gets even more benefit than most of the children there. One thing that is definitely a truth though is that when kids behave correctly, the other children don’t even notice, when a child misbehaves, all the...

EVERYBODY’S DOING IT (or letting you do it) One of the more interesting bits to come out of recent news is EMC jumping on the primary storage dedupe bandwagon. Since HDS and NetApp were already doing so, HP has a network based solution, and IBM  got NetApp’s solution for free since they resell NetApp as their NAS line and also has some functionality built into TSM, that rounds out the crowd of usual suspects. All supporting dedupe of primary data. Backup software has offered compression and dedupe forever, originally to keep the number...

THE (STORAGE) WORLD IS A-CHANGING Innovation in the storage space seems to be at an all time high, and that means you have a lot more choices in what to do for storage tiering. Maybe too many choices if you are considering everything you possibly can. Seriously. Tons of moving parts underneath you at different layers of the stack. It’s pretty out there. Or pretty ugly, depends upon your view. A NEW KIND OF HYBRID The new hybrid disk being offered by Seagate, well evaluated in Storage...

Hey all! Just a quick post to say you should pop out and vote in the Network Computing (UK) 2009 Awards. Of course we want you to vote for the BIG-IP in the “Load Balancing Product of the Year” category (since they don’t have an Application Delivery Network category ;-)), but there are some great entries in the other categories too that are worth checking out. The Network Infrastructure and Storage categories both have a wide array of different technologies under them, makes voting difficult and watching who comes out ahead fun. We believe in...

So Lori has a way to insert social media icons into her posts, I thought I'd try to one-up her. SO this Bookmarking widget for LiveWriter just... Does it. All the stuff at the bottom of this page is created by Insert Bookmarking Tags from the WLW Plug In directory. I'm lazy, this was easy. I like.   I also finally downloaded the Polaroid blogging tool, here's a test of how it works... Seems pretty cool to me. And yes, that's our youngest child in the picture. So all in all, good stuff. Assuming these links work after...
