DevCentral 4 - Home Sweet Home.
posted on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 1:47 AM

Well, after months of working it out, the team finally brought DevCentral 4 online tonight. Thus far it is looking good.

Tool around, make yourself at home here, this is going to be the place for the ubergeek of 2007 to hang out.

We've added a lot of features and streamlined content delivery so that you can find what you need, when you need it.

Let us know if you have problems, it's rare for a major overhaul to go off without a hitch, but with this team, it just might.

That's all for now, gotta go test some more.

Gravatar nice and blue... but still cripplingly slow. you'd think a company specializing in web acceleration would have sites that actually load quickly. still very very painful experience.

Gravatar Hey Chris,

Thanks for the feedback. You're right, for a while there it was terribly slow. Now it should be responding reasonably, and we are taking steps to make it perform even better.

Like I said, no release goes off without a hitch, we had two big ones, performance is one of them. But we're on it.

Gravatar Hi Don,

The new version of DC is pretty cool. I noticed a couple of minor issues:

1. You can't edit posts anymore. It was handy to be able to make quick edits to fix typos and logic errors. Can the edit function be added back?

2. When searching from the search box in a forum, if you type in a search term and hit enter, the search term isn't listed in the 302 redirect to the search object, so no results are found. If you either tab over to the Go button or click it, the search works correctly.

For example, from the 9.x rules forum page (http://devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&view=topics&forumid=5) I typed in stream and hit enter. I was redirected to:

http://devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx?tabid=37&xsq=

As there isn't a search term, I got no results. When tabbing over to the Go button or clicking it, I get redirected to:

http://devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&view=search&q=stream&f=5&m=AllWords&stype=Posts

This returns the correct results.

Thanks,
Aaron
