Well, it's the second morning here at Oracle Open World, and I'm just amazed that it seems to keep growing. An Oracle employee told me 45,000 attendees this year. I don't know if that number is accurate, I do know that it is difficult to move when the presentations let out. The floor has not been as busy as I expected, but that was the first day - I'm on my way to the floor now for day 2. The striking thing is the breadth of companies here. From SAN vendors to PeopleSoft add-ons, they've got the whole gamut represented. Sure, there's a lot of SOA stuff here, but the show has grown to include everything a busy IT pro might need, which is pretty cool, in my opinion. Most shows are shrinking, this one is growing. I poked around yesterday at booths I might know some people from, but missed an entire hall, and so far I've run into no one I know from my writing days. I have gotten some time with the F5 Business Development people, which is great - I don't get enough time with some of my co-workers. Anyway, back to the show... Time to go find some trouble to get into. Don.
