Firepass4300

I have the pleasure and honor to announce that version 6.0.3 of F5's SSL VPN, FirePass, has been released! This version of FirePass includes a plethora of enhancements included new client support (Vista SP1, XP SP3, and Firefox 3 on Windows, Mac, and Linux) as well as support for the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices.

About F5 FirePass:

FirePass is a robust, secure SSL VPN providing remote access to business applications from a wide range of client devices, including Windows Mobile devices and the Apple iPhone. Using full-tunnel SSL technology and client access policies defined by system administrators, remote clients can log on to corporate business applications under pre-defined access permissions and client directory control.

Release highlights:

    • An industry first integration of a Group Policy enforcement feature that enables our customers to extend Active Directory Group Policy to non-domain endpoints when they are connected to the VPN. Allows enforcement of HIPAA, PCI, and GLBA.
    • Improved support for popular mobile devices such as the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices. iPhone users can sync their email, calendar and contacts directly to the corporate MS Exchange server via FirePass and the ActiveSync protocol.
    • New and Improved split tunnel support for non-Microsoft users is provided via our Java client technology. Users of these machines now can also benefit from Terminal Services with Java enabled Terminal Services.
    • Support for nested directories with MS Active Directory.
    • Authentication Session Variables allow the provisioning of Single Single On (SSO).

There is great news in FirePass v6.0.3 for administrators and end-users alike. Here are some of the enhancements you will find in the release:

  • Group Policy Enforcement through integration with Full Armor GP Anywhere
  • Ability to import and export pre-logon sequence between FirePass Controllers
  • Ability to auto update the Standalone client
  • DHCP Relay and Dynamic DNS
  • DNS Caching Proxy
  • Support for static Java-based Application Tunnels and Terminal Services
  • Refreshed client support to include: Vista SP1, XP SP3, and FireFox 3 (on Windows, Mac, and Linux)
  • New SSL VPN network access client for Mac OSX and Linux
  • Extended variables support for LDAP, Active Directory, pre-logon, and RADIUS attributes for user's single sign-on (SSO) values
  • Enhanced password support for Active Directory users
  • Support for nested user groups during Active Directory authentication
  • Enhanced session variables created from RADIUS attributes

The full press-release is available here.

Gravatar And,in the case of Linux, still no native 64 bit support because of np_F5_SSL_VPN.so being an ELF_32.

Seems to me that you would write a wrapper for the plugin that:
1. For the browser (FireFox for example) - Checks the arch of the machine (32bit or 64bit) then loads/calls the right plugin for the arch (ELF_32 or ELF_64)
2. Distribute a command line utility that does something similar in the event you can't get the GUI desktop or just run from the command line.

The Perl script, posted elsewere on this site, has the right idea... now if someone would finish it by:
1. http header information that the firepass uses to figure out if you have a valid browser
2. if there are menu/link options for different vpn connections, present them and allow you to pick one

Gravatar I have updated my Firefox from 3.0.12 to 3.5.1 and now the plugin isn't working. I can't install it, there comes the error "F5 Networks Host Plugin 6030.2008.0904.1940 konnte nicht installiert werden, da es nicht kompatibel mit Firefox 3.5.1 ist." (couldn't be installed, because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.5.1).

Where can I get a working plugin for FF 3.5.*? I need the plugin and for safety reasons I will use the actual Firefox-version.

I hope that this comment will be read by the right persons to fix the problem and send me an answer.

Thanks for Your response.

Gravatar I have updated my Firefox to 3.6 and now the plugin isn's working again (in the meantime it was working with FF 3.5.1). Error "F5 Networks Host Plugin 6030.2009.0514.2205 konnte nicht installiert werden, da es nicht kompatibel mit Firefox 3.6 ist." (couldn't be installed, because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6).

Where can I get a working plugin for FF 3.6.*?

Thanks for Your response.

later versions of the cumulative hotfixes from the F5 Networks Downloads
