If you happened to read my post this morning (WILS: Applications Should Be Like Sith Lords) you might be wondering if the cat got my tongue this morning or if perhaps I’ve lost the ability to ramble on write passionately about application delivery.
When you’ve spent as many years as I have writing for a living you learn how to expand on a subject. Sometimes you have to, especially when 
you really only have about 500 words worth of insight to share but need to fill 1500 words of space on a page. I can be long winded and verbose, even when it’s not strictly necessary. That’s a side effect of being passionate about a subject – I really want to convince you of the value and benefits of application delivery and that often means I’ll repeat myself to try to get my point across.
Like many folks I read Seth Godin’s blog from time to time. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don’t. But regardless of my thoughts on his subject matter at any given time I am always impressed with his ability to deliver his message with brevity. You’ll rarely see a lengthy post from Seth; he’s concise, to the point, and straight-forward.
So I thought it might be a good idea for me to learn something new: brevity. It is always a good idea for writers to practice the art of distilling information down to a single point and focusing on that rather than broad, abstract concepts as it’s easy to lose a point in a lengthy, rambling post.
I won’t confine myself to such short posts every day, I just can’t – there’s too much to say on some subjects to be that concise - but I will attempt to WILS – Write It Like Seth - more often.
And yes, it is a lot harder than it sounds. At least it is for me. :-)
