 Load Balancing Dynamics CRM
posted on Thursday, March 13, 2008 1:03 PM

We’ve been working with the Microsoft Dynamics team for over a year now building and testing a scalable architecture for their CRM package. And now with the release of CRM 4.0, BIG-IP plays a critical role in providing high availability, scalability, and performance for an enterprise deployment.

If you’re interested in deploying BIG-IP with Dynamics CRM, please take a look at the deployment guide here -> Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Deployment Guide

Just to let you know, we’ve also slated a round of testing for WebAccelerator with Dynamics CRM to happen later this year. We should be able to get some pretty compelling acceleration results from that. I’ll keep you posted on how the progress of that!

For now,
Ryan

Gravatar This document does not address the Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) for Microsoft CRM 4.0. This is an important access method as it allows remote users to access CRM for Outlook without a VPN connection. There are significant issues with use of the F5 in this scenario as follows. The most critical problems we have discovered include: 1) CRM needs to know the client IP address and this is not easy to configure as Microsoft CRM does not recognize the X-Forward-For or X-Remote-Addr HTTP header; 2) CRM IFD authentication through the F5 is an issue when using CRM dynamic spreadsheets and 3) The CRM for Outlook client may log itself off when the SSL certificate is placed on the F5 and user browses to the IFD access URL using the http protocol.
Hope that you can update the document to address the use of the F5 for an IFD CRM 4.0 deployment.

Thanks Dan
