The idea of sweetening the pot a bit for people who are willing to work from home, or Teleworkers as they're often dubbed in the press, is not a new one. It's been tossed around for a while now for many reasons. Partly as a way to help decrease traffic, partly as a way to decrease pollution and overpopulation in highly urban areas, but also as a relief from undue state taxes when working from a remote location, perhaps out of state.

It looks like this year may be the year that some form of relief for telecommuters actually gets passed. I suppose only time will tell, but I'm hoping that things actually get rolling on this one and it gets pushed through. Do I personally benefit? Nah, I work in a cube like most of the computer geeks I know. I'm behind it, though.

Still though, I like the idea of adding some form of incentive to telecommuting (not that this would necessarily do that, but it's a step in the right direction, I feel). And I certainly agree with the idea of looking out for those folks currently getting nailed with double state taxes due to the “Convenience” laws in places like NY. Double taxes? set's already too much Uncle Sam...get your hand outta that pocket. ;)
