Like lots of people at this time of year, I have some family coming to stay at my house. They get there today from Montreal and leave just before New Year's Eve.

A couple of years ago we remodeled our house. As part of it we had a Rinnai Continuum tankless hot water heater installed. It is one of the things that people are most curious about when they look around at what we did. It saves space in the garage since there's no tank, has lower operating costs than a traditional tank based heater and lets you fill a soaking tub (my wife's favorite aspect) without running out of hot water. This kind of system is common in Asia but still fairly rare to see in North American homes.

Best part of it is that when guests come to visit, nobody gets stuck having a cold shower!
