We at F5, along with our customers and partners, are preparing to don our lederhosen and relocate to Vienna for our annual EMEA Agility conference! With two action-packed days ahead of us, we thought we’d preview the main events and happenings as the event draws ever nearer:

Speaker Highlights

F5 Senior VP EMEA Sales Lizzie Cohen-Laloum kicks off day 1 (17 May) by setting the scene and highlighting some of the key industry trends driving both challenge and opportunity for our business.

F5 CEO John McAdam then takes to the stage for the first keynote to review how far F5 has come, and how we are gearing up for future success in today’s increasingly app-centric world.

Other day 1 highlights include EVP of Worldwide Sales John DiLullo and SVP F5 Services Ian Jones focusing on the latest security issues and hybrid cloud potential.

Day 2 keynotes begin with F5 Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Office Julian Eames on our global services and how they are empowering our clients 24/7. This is followed by our Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Product Development Karl Triebes, who will take an in-depth look at F5’s roadmap ahead.

Guest speakers

Tuesday afternoon sees Misha Glenny, the first of our two guest speakers, take to the stage. In addition to being an international expert on cyber security and organised crime, he is a trained actor – so expect plenty of life, passion and a dose of intelligent humour. In particular, Misha's personal encounters with hackers provide him with an exceptional insight into the minds of hackers and cyber-criminals.

Thimon De Jong is Wednesday afternoon’s guest speaker. He will take a thought-provoking look at how society, technology and culture influence human behaviour. He will also assess how this can subsequently shape business behaviour, including employee and consumer engagement.

If you’d like to know more, look out for our next preview blog which will feature a Q&A session with both guest speakers!

Explore and de-stress

There will be plenty of time to explore Vienna in all its glory throughout Agility. For more details, check out our blog with some top touristic tips for your stay.

Many of you will also have signed up for some optional, organized tours, including a free 5k fun run for the early risers among us (departing the Hilton Vienna Stadtpark at 07:00am on 18 May).

Celebrate in style

The Agility Gala evening event on 17 May will get going from 7pm at one of Vienna’s most iconic and photographed buildings – The Hofburg Palace. The stunning palace has been a documented seat for rulers and government since 1279, and continues to act as the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria.

Built in the 13th century and expanded in the centuries since, the palace has housed some of the most powerful people in European and Austrian history, including the monarchs of the Habsburg dynasty who ruled Austria and much of Europe between 1438 and 1740.

Also contained within the Hofburg Palace grounds are some of Vienna’s major tourist and historical attractions, including:

  • The Imperial Silver Collection – displaying the royal silverware, centrepieces and glassware, which shine as brightly today as they did during the imperial years!
  • The Sisi Museum – displaying the many fascinating personal items of Empress Elisabeth, the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph. Elizabeth. An introverted and misunderstood figure who resented the royal lifestyle thrust upon her, Elizabeth used her position to travel extensively, collecting thousands of possessions.
  • The Imperial Apartments – providing an insight to the world of Austria’s most distinguished couple, Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. It is also a showcase of the rooms that each member of Habsburg clan has occupied during their reign.

Beyond enjoying the beautiful backdrop, Gala attendees will also be treated to a champagne reception, three course dinner, a string quartet as well as a live band on stage to round the evening off.

Gute reise and we look forward to seeing you there!
