Bring up and shutdown pool member via BIG-IQ

Hi All,

I want to ask a question for my customer. They request to use BIG-IQ to bring up or shutdown specific pool member on specific VS on specific BIG-IP that managed by BIG-IQ. Is this can be done by BIG-IQ? Anyone know how to do it? Can it be done via basic GUI or API is required? Thanks all.

Regards, Kevin

Yes this is certainly possible.

In the GUI (assuming BIG-IQ 5.3 or 5.4) it's in Configuration tab > Local Traffic > Pool Members.

You can enable/disable/force offline in the same way that you can via the BIG-IP directly.

Permissions to do this can be delegated and restricted to specific pool members if needed via the Pool Member Operator user role.

Hi Dan,

To perform this, you only need to provision or register BIG-IP to BIG-IQ right? No need to perform API integration or some sort? Thanks

Hi Kevin,

Yes you simply need to firstly discover the BIG-IP device from BIG-IQ, and then discover/import the LTM configuration of that device so that you can manage the pools and other such configuration items.

Should all be quite self explanatory once you've carried out the above import steps.

Hi Dan,

Thanks thanks for your answers. Anyway my customer asking, can this also done by API so that third party tools can initiate and perform this action through API instead of using BIG-IQ directly? I'm searching in BIG-IQ API documentation but I can not find related API to this. Thanks
