It depends on what you mean by automating a backup. Do you want to take UCS Backups? TXT File Backups?

CRON Jobs from a Linux Box Box can automate everything. Any major monitoring solutions can automate UCS and TXT File backups. BigIQ automates this process. Old EM still works and takes UCS backup Jobs.

Hi Nilesh, yes the iApp is all GUI driven.

Download the iApp template from the link above and then import it into your F5 BIG-IP device under iApp Templates. Then create a new iApp application selecting the Automated Backup as the template and fill in the web based questions to configure.

You will need to do this for each F5 device you want to backup but the GUI options are detailed enough to schedule backups and copy them off box to a remote file share or FTP server etc.

Hi Dali,

Thanks for sharing the useful article. In my case ssh is already configured so do I still require to generate crypto key and why do we require to generate it?

Thanks,
