We have 4 pool members available under a pool. Action On Service Down for the pool is configured to _Reselct_. The configurations seems to work for us perfectly. Now is there any way so that we could monitor the session switching? i.e. If pool_member_1 goes down and the sessions from that pool member switch to pool_member_2 then we get a notification. Thanks in advance!
Hi Look at this article which covers most everything you would need;
Thanks for the link. Configuring LTM to send notification email part I understand okay. What I need is the following,
Suppose I have 2 pool members X & Y under the pool Z. The "Action On Service Down" is set to "Reselect" for pool Z so that when pool member X is down the connections/sessions there automatically switched to pool Y. I need a way to monitor this that it does switch and if it is then to which pool members. Do you know if F5 has an OID related to this?
No I think I can safely say there is definitely no OID for that.
The best way to monitor this is to log the F5 persistence cookies (from the requests) on your servers, and run scripts over the logs which look for cookies that don't match that server. Then you will know that that request was moved from another server.
