self IP as a default gw failover guestion

Hi, we used to inline topology for our system that we have servers default gateway to F5 self IP address and system is working but i'll have a question here. when it is failover F5 we will change f5 self IP and we always have to change the default gw of the servers? because it will no longer be able to reach that existing self IP. when server default gw floating IP didn't work Could you please help?

Hi,

you must create:

  • one self IP for member 1
  • one self IP for member 2
  • one floating IP for cluster

This is the floating IP which must be configured as server default GW.

Hi Piron, Thank you, i know that the things you specified but when I used floating IP as server default GW, it didn't work i can't access to server. F5 selfIP addres is working. As a result of my research community page I always saw the use of self IP.

floating may work as it works with self IP... this is the same configuration...

the only difference is the floating IP is "Floating" ;-)

So this IP is enabled only on active member.
