On the 1600, it is 11.5.1 HF5 On the 2000, it is 12.1.0 (no hot fix)

When I tried to load the configs from the 1600 to 2000, I believe I reverted the 2000 down to version 11.5.1, but it had so many errors that I almost couldn't get it to work. I had to remove them, and then reloaded it to 12.1.0 and then just di it page by page from the GUI.

Wouldn't that be tmsh show /sys version? Though that may have been changed lately. You could also do tmsh list /sys software or tmsh show /sys software to see what is installed.

/sys would be required if not at the root.
