iRule Do You? Contest Winners Announced
Following a comprehensive judging process, the winners for the first annual DevCentral “iRule. Do You?” developer contest have been declared. With a fantastic response from the global DevCentral community, this contest highlights the power, flexibility, and unique possibilities for iRules to deliver more intelligent, application-fluent delivery of application traffic.
The impressive collection of winners – from both F5 customers and partners – as well as honorable mention participants showcases the breadth and depth of possibility for iRules. iRule entries included everything from basic, broadly applicable examples to complex, application specific solutions. Entries many examples including:
- Granular, application-fluent routing and direction
- IT infrastructure cost reduction
- Smart processing of malicious or burdensome application traffic
- Improved application performance with lower overall costs
- Complex security scenario implementations
- Reduction of time-consuming, application debugging processes
- Improvement in overall application reliability
- Achievement of the previously impossible...
Of great significance was the tremendous level of global participation. iRules were contributed from over 10 countries worldwide with winning and honorable mention iRules representing 6 countries in 3 continents. Reflective of the global DevCentral community, this level of participation is tremendously exciting for the overall iRule developer community as it reflects worldwide iRule expertise and community collaboration ahead.
While many contests feature theoretical or test lab entries, it was incredible to see that over 75% of the iRule entries are already in production environments. 100% of the winning iRules are in real-world deployments today.
The DevCentral team would like to thank all of the contest entrants and judges for their participation in this first annual event. Because of their overwhelming involvement, it is has been tremendous success and is a testament to the great work being done by DevCentral community members worldwide!
