F5 has released v1.4.0rc1 of the Horizon View iApp template to downloads.f5.com in the RELEASE CANDIDATE directory. Use the link below for instructions on downloading the iApp template, but make sure you get the latest template from the release candidate directory.

You can use this F5 supported iApp template to configure availability, encryption, and remote access for VMware View 5.0 and 5.1, and Horizon View 5.2, 5.3, 6.0, 6.1, 6.11, and 6.2. This template will configure the BIG-IP LTM module as well as BIG-IP APM for environments using Security Servers in conjunction with Connection Servers or Connection Servers only.

The iApp provides multiple ways of deploying the BIG-IP system with View. Specifically, if View is deployed with View Security Servers, the BIG-IP system can further protect, monitor, and load balance these servers, allowing PC-over-IP (PCoIP) Security Gateway services to be moved out of the DMZ. If only View Connection Servers are used, the BIG-IP LTM system can protect, monitor, and load balance those Connection Servers to provide greater reliability and more predictable scaling.

For instructions on downloading and installing the template, see SOL15041. For guidance on configuring the iApp and preparing the View environment, see the deployment guide.

  • Does anyone have an idea of how to do multiple domain authentication with this template? Our View 6 deployment has 3 AD domains for authentication. The Template only creates one AAA service. How can I add two more AAA services to the template for authentication?

You can configure multiple domains using the latest iApp. Make sure you are in "advanced" configuration mode and you will see a question appear in the APM section asking if you would like to support multiple domains. You will, however, need to make the AAA server profiles prior to running the iApp.
  • Thanks. I found this issue was with the template. I was using the optimized template. I switch to the view_1.3 and it had the settings.
