Wikipedia and SOPA: Beauty and the Beast?

Great news on the funding, Wikimedia. As a frequent user of your Wikipedia service I think this is excellent news. The second part of this article, however, fighting SOPA, is fuel for many a heated debate.

“…SOPA - the USA's proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), which effectively facilitates internet censorship in the name of fighting copyright infringement. SOPA would allow for the blocking of entire foreign websites in the United States as a response to remove infringing material from sight. The act has been widely opposed by the likes of Creative Commons, Reddit, Tumblr and Mozilla.”

Is this a case of technology being punished for making things available? If I build a web site offering organisations Intellectual Property via the postal service do we shut down my service provider or the postal service? Or both?
