there is many choose for action filed.

Accpet, reject ... etc

I found definition for these action but I still what to more details

If I select accept and determine all settings, what the result will be?

Is any packet match this rule will accept and others will denied?

  • Hi Mohammed,

I think you're refering to packet filters (Network>Packet Filters) here, is that correct?

If so, the TMOS Management Guides contain packet filter configuration info. Here's alink to the relevant chapter for TMOS version 10.1.0 on Ask f5: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/tmos_management_guide_10_1/tmos_packet_filters.html

If I've misunderstood, please try to be clearer in your requirements and I'll do my best to help.

  • Hi Cspillane,

    I read this content before.

The question is when I create Accept rule in packet filtering what will happen if traffic didn't match this rule? is the packet filter whitlist based do it will block all traffic that will not match the rule , or blacklist based so it will allow all traffic that didn't match the rule ?

    for example:

    Source IP: any

    destination IP: 10.0.10.0

    destination Port: 222

The rule will be accept any packet with source IP goes to destination 10.0.10.0 and Port 222.

What if this rule is false is packet will be drop or pass?

    This is my question.
  • For 10.x, there should be an option for setting "Unhandled Packet Action" to Accept (allow), Discard (drop) or Reject (send a reset).
