LC and DNS

I am having an issue with LC and DNS. I have a 1600 with LC and LTM. I created a subdomain for LC (wip.domain.com) delagated authority to BigIP. I created NS records using the IP addresses of the listeners and created A records for the listeners. I created a CNAME for www.domain.com IN www.wip.domain.com. NSLOOKUP shows the listeners as authoritive for the subdomain. The problem I am having is the listeners are not resolving to the wide IP's. Using DNSLint it appears the NS are not responding to port 53 DNS queries. Can LC only act as a forwarder? Should the NS record be the self-IP? I have seen both ways in the documentation.

  • Why are you CNAMING?

    Here's how I've done LC:

    lc.domain.com IN A listener-ip (self-ip of LC)

    www.domain.com IN NS listener-ip

On LC, you'd have a wide-ip called www.domain.com with your VSes in there.
