Mount NFS shares

Hi,

I thinking about to let the F5 act as webservers, with that in mind it´s proberly necessary that the F5 can mount NFS share.

So, can a LTM mount NFS shares?

And you guys and girls that run the LTM as a webserver, how is the performance (I know that it depends a lot how the website is built but please give me a hint),

  • Hi Beinhard,

Up until now, F5 hasn't supported the use case for LTM to serve web content itself. It can be done in a very limited fashion using iRules to serve a handful of images and some HTML, but it's not on the scale of a full webserver. If you think this could be useful, you could open a case with F5 Support to document the request.

NFS mounting isn't supported natively, but it might be something you can configure. You might need to manually add packages to do this. F5 wouldn't support it if you did got it working, but there isn't anything I know of stopping you from trying.

  • Thanks for the replay Aron,

I´m gonna investigate a lttle bit further about this and to check capacity the capacit of todays webservers.

And a big downside is as you say that F5 support can be lost =)

Some other downside is that if you move webservers "things" to the F5 you in reality loose one security termination point but with todays "everything in a golden basket" theory maybe it can pass.

So im gonna dig deeper and maybe do a request to the F5.
