Unable to telnet or ping VS in one arm configuration

Hello,

I am new to this site and with F5 Load Balancers. We are actually working with a couple of 6400 in one-arm configuration due to infrastructure restrictions.

I set up my nodes, monitors and pools without problems.

Nodes are in the 192.168.162.x subnet.

I also set up a Virtual Server (HTTP) in the same subnet, with the AutoMap option enabled. The issue comes when I log in to any of the nodes and try to telnet the virtual server to port 80. It works intermittently (one time yes, one time not). The ARP is enabled on the Virtual Address. Version on the LTM's is 10.2.0. Additionally, I can not ping the Virtual Server address from the node. I don't know if this is a normal behavior, so If anyone can clarify my doubt I'll appreciate it.

Sorry if this is a basic question but I haven't found any resolution on any other forums.

If you need more information about this issue, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks a lot.

  • This sounds like a possible network issue--not with LTM. Can you access the virtual server locally from LTM? If that always works, I'd try checking the devices between the client and LTM to see what's happening when it fails.
