Port Aggregation

Hi,

Guys can anyone provide the document or steps as to how can we configure the port aggregation on the BIG-IP LTM platform and if there is any limitation of ports to be added on in the link aggregation. I have a BIG-IP LTM with 8 Ethernet ports can I aggregate all of them as one pipe of 8Gbps????

I am looking forward to the answer of this query.

Regards,

Saeed

  • With one trunk, you can aggregate a maximum of eight links. For optimal performance, you should aggregate links in powers of two. Thus, you ideally aggregate two, four, or eight links.9 Working with Trunks

    Note that I've seen some switches using LACP limit the number of active links in the channel to 4...

  • Hi everyone,

    I have a query about the Link aggregation related to the switch, what is the configuration that should be done on the switch side for the link aggregation. If I make the switch ports as Bridge port and on the LTM side it is a trunk with no LACP is it working as a aggregation port or no?????? is there any document you guys can share over this.

    is there any document you guys can share over this. i do not see any official document; anyway, i have seen some discussion popping up here sometime.
  • The switch I have is a 3COM core switch, also I want to know if LACP is enabled on the LTM platform no matter its working on the peer switch or not will it create any conflict or problem?????

    Is there a way to assign a native VLAN on the VLAN's we create on F5, I didnt see any such configuration area where I can define this.

    Can you please help me with this...

  • The switch I have is a 3COM core switch, also I want to know if LACP is enabled on the LTM platform no matter its working on the peer switch or not will it create any conflict or problem????? i never tested but i think it should work if you manually enable link aggregation on 3com side (like cisco etherchannel mode on). anyway, why do you need lacp on f5 side if switch does not support it??

    [root@B3900-R71-S16:Active] config  b vlan vlan10 list
    vlan vlan10 {
       tag 10
       interfaces tagged 1.8
    }

    [root@B3900-R71-S16:Active] config  b vlan vlan20 list
    vlan vlan20 {
       tag 20
       interfaces tagged 1.8
    }

    [root@B3900-R71-S16:Active] config  b vlan vlan1 list
    vlan vlan1 {
       tag 1
       interfaces 1.8
    }
