Fail.over port on Viprion 2400 Chasis

Hello Devcentral amigos!!

I've been working with F5 gear since a few years now but this is my first project deploying a VIPRION chasis ( with 2 blades at the moment)

I have managed to configure the HA settings for both (vcmp guest a.k.a virtual LTMs) and the physical chasis HOWEVER if noticed there is a failover port on each blade and I have not figure out yet what is it for?

Can anyone tell me when or under what circumstances to use this port ? I've read the Viprion admin guide but there is nothing listed for this port

any ideas?

bst rgs!!!

  • Note: Serial (hard-wired) failover is not currently supported between VIPRION chassis. To

configure a redundant pair of VIPRION units, you must configure network failover.Platform Guide: VIPRION 2400

I have managed to configure the HA settings for both (vcmp guest a.k.a virtual LTMs) and the physical chasisjust wondering why you also need to configure HA on host (physical chassis). i think HA should be done on vcmp guest only and leave host as standalone chassis.
  • Hi Glenn,

I am also going to deploy Viprion Chassis with four virtual instances on that for the first time. I had googled a lot on HA configuration best practice but did not found any thing good. As you mentioned, you had able to configure HA for both vCMP host as well as vCMP guest. So please let me know HA config on vCMP host will synchronize all my guest configuration to other chassis. is it working in a stable condition ? because some of the F5 document says that you should not configure any TMM feature on vCMP host.

    Thanks in advance.
