E-mail Notfication

Hi guys,

 

I have a very simple requriement I want my BIGIP unit to send the notification of the logs and event to my e-mail like any othe network device. I came across the below article

But it says nothing about the authentication.Like if my SMTP requries an authentication then this article is not enough for the configuration. Can soemone help me with this.

    have you tried AuthUser/AuthPass?

    Hi Nitas,

     

    Thanks for sharing this link.... I need to ask few things...

     

     

    1. How the flow of things should be in this file? Should it be the way it is defined or we have to define like "mailhub" first then the "authentication" then the root mail id and so on.

     

     

    2. If I have two mail servers how can i define both of them should I use mailhub twice to define both the IP's, under single mailhub just seprate multiple ip's with comma or space or how? and if i use mailhub twice what about the Auth/authpass the single one will work i have to define it 2 times.

     

     

    3. If i need to send e-mail to mutliple id's do i have to write root=email id twice or multiple times or i can seprate them with commas or space on a single line?

     

     

    4. Finally I need to know what are the notifications that the BIGIP sends over the e-mail, is there a way i can specify the things for which BIGIP box should notify me or no?

    as i understand, ssmtp is smtp client. i think just pointing mailhub to your smtp gateway (with user authentication) and then the smtp gateway would take care of routing email to receiver.

     

     

    about what notification bigip sends out an email, i understand it will be based on user_alert.conf.

    regarding 3, i understand it is configurable in user_alert.conf.

     

     

    Also is there any thing defined in the GUI for user_alert.conf? Ididnt find it... have you seen this one?
