Not able to select a file from an external monitor

Hello,

I have an LTM 11.2 and I am trying to configure an interface failover using the external monitor, in order for one interface if it goes down to trigger the failover to the other unit.

When I copy the script from "Interface Failsafe Monitor" from the forum into a file called interface_failsafe in the /config/monitors .Then I do a "chmod 754 interface_failsafe" as instructed in https://devcentral.f5.com/wiki/advd...nitor.ashx

After that, i go to the GUI to create an external monitor (Type external), i cannot see/select the file that was create in the "external program" drop menu option.

In ver10.x you select the path of the file and there no drop menu.

Please I need some help on how to fix this.

Why I am not able to select the file that was created? Note that in the drop menu there are two default options(two files), the same two files that are in the path /config/monitors, as far as i remember the names of the files are "sample_monitor" and "....".

Regards,

George

  • Hi George,

Can you import the script under System | File Mgmt | External Monitor Program File List and retry?

  • Also if you're on 10.x+ you could use HA groups for more intelligent, inbuilt failover instead of an external monitor:

I updated the wiki page with details on importing a script on 11.x for an external monitor:
