upgrade from v9.4.7 to v10.2.1 issue

Hi all, i'm wondering if i can upgrade F5 LTM 1600 from v9.4.7 to v10.2.1 directly? but not from v9.4.7 to v10.1.0 then v10.1.0 to v10.2.1?

another question,i have to install hotfix and 10.2.1 patches both in inactive patition?

If i install the patch with "--format=volume" option, does that mean the whole disk will be formatted into one partition or some what like HD1.1 ,HD1.2? I'm confused.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm confused. i never installed hotfix using image2disk (i usually use b software or tmsh install sys software command). anyway, normally --format will format whole hard disk (not only one partition).

  • if i were you, i would format (i.e. --format=volumes) and install 10.2.1 first (e.g. hd1.1) and then install 10.2.1 with hotfix on another partition/slot (e.g. hd1.2) using b software or tmsh install sys software command. please make sure you backup 9.4.7 ucs before installing 10.2.1.

by the way, why don't you upgade to 10.2.4 latest hotfix?
  • Hi nitass

Thing went well except some little problems.

I didn't format the whole disks,i did backup configurations, and i kept v9.4.7,and upgrade another HD to 10.2.4 with hotfix to HF5.

    when i install HF5 for v10.2.4,i doesn't work accortding to SOL11033,so i upgraded v9.4.7 in HD1.1 to version 10,then installed HF5 for v10.2.4 with "bippipe sofware".

The who process went smoothly, and both of my F5 1600 is ready now.
