Latencies between v9.02 and v4?

Hello,

I am enumerating a list of DIPs using nodeaddress.exe included in the SDK, and notice that our BIGIP v9.02 box can take up to 10 seconds to respond. * Note there is no load on the BIGIP v9.02 box. However, our BIGIP v4 box reponds much faster, almost instaneously to DIP enumeration. Is there any reason why the BIGIP v9.02 box takes so long to respond compared to v4?

thanks

  • I'm not sure what would be causing a delay with 9.0.2 as we've added significant improvments in the server performance when we moved to the 9.x architecture. The iControl methods are communicated through the common web admin interface. Are you seeing lags in the performance of the web based administration as well? How about when you access WSDL listing from the iControl portal directly (http://bigip_address/iControl/iControlPortal.cgi)?

Also, are you using the same authentication mechanism in both platforms? It could be that if on you 9.0.2 box you are using an external authentication that is causing some delay, that could effect iControl communcations (as well as the web admin).

I'm personally doing my dev work against 9.0.2 and haven't seen this issue. But, I'm also using a local authentication scheme.

This is abnormal behavior and I would suggest that if you can't get it resolved, contact F5 tech support to get this fixed. 9.0.2 should perform as good, if not better, than 4.x with regards to iControl.

Also, for my reference, what are you referring to when you mention DIP? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation. nodeAddress.exe returns a list of node addresses in the system.
