trunking 2 BigIP 1000's

I am trying to Trunk 2 BigIP 1000's to create one logical switch. The problem I have is that I have multiple VLANS on the switch, so when I try to ping server1 on VLAN1 on switch1 from Server2 on VLAN1 on switch2 I get no response. I have tried to tag the ports but I still have no luck in making this work??? Any Ideas?

  • The support for this forum is limited to software questions related to developing iControl applications. I'd recommend looking at the BIG-IP manual and then contacting F5 Product Support directly.

  • I did this on a Cisco 6509 running old CatOS code and on a 35?? running newer code.

    Make sure that;

    1) The switch port has a native VLAN configured

    and

    2) The native VLAN is NOT one of the VLANs you are tagging on the BigIP interface.

    Of course, if your switch is Cisco, make sure it is set for 802.1q trunking vice ISL.

    The native VLAN is the VLAN that is used for all untagged frames in/out of the switch ports, mostly control traffic between switches. I think STP uses the native VLAN.
