Integration with MS Application Center 2000

At the MS TechNet site looking to the Microsoft Application Center 2000 Resource Kit at the chapter 13 Third Party Load Balancer Support

Ther is a technical description on how to integrate MS application Center with Bigip.

Unfortunatly the description is very hold and is based on bigip v.3.3 and a CGI provided by F5 called AC2000.CGI.

Looking to BIGIP V9 we have ICONTROLPORTAL.CGI is this the new CGI with the same functions as AC2000.CGI that we can use on MS Application Center ?

MS Applicatiuon Center provides a tool called ACEXT.EXE to send commands to BIGIP using AC2000.CGI. Do you thing this tool still work ?? or we have to look for a new version ?

Thanks a lot for your help

  • AC2000.CGI was a custom build extension on our 4.x platform that, as far as I know, has not been ported to 9.x. iControlPortal.cgi is our endpoint for all iControl calls and I don't believe the AC integration made use of our published calls. I believe it used a proprietary interface.

  • Rizatti,

Back when app center was new we tried to use that tool with the recently acquired cicso css (arrowpoint rebranded devices) load balancers and had no luck whatsoever. Since that time we never looked into this again. Not sure if you have seen this, but for MS, they are not supporting this product anymore - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/acs/roadmap.mspx . We use it very extensively and are not looking forward to migrating away from it quite yet.
