BIGIP LTM temperature monitor

Hello everybody,

I'm also kinda new in the F5 world and I have a question regarding temperature monitoring on BIGIP-1500 9.1.0 build 6.2 load balancer.

I have two of them in the rack working in active/standby mode, problem is that both of them are showing a bit high CPU temperature (act - 63 degrees celzius, stby - 58)

My question is if those temps are acceptable or are too high? (some examples would be much appreciated) Other servers in the same rack have normal working temps.

Sorry if I've posted under a wrong forum topic.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

  • I don't have a 1500 to check against, but a 4100 here is running at 36 and 45 for CPU0 and CPU1 (from 'system_check -d' or 'b platform' output).

The systems mgmt guide (Click here) shows the following:

Check the CPU and air temperatures. For BIG-IP platforms C36, D39, D44, D45, D50, D51, D51C, and D62, the threshold is 75 degrees Celsius. For the BIG-IP platform C62, the threshold is 80 degrees Celsius. If the condition persists, contact F5 Networks technical support.

To check your platform code, you can run 'b platform'. The type is on the second line.

So it seems your CPU temps aren't above the threshold.
