RTMP stateful failover

Hi,

Has anyone tried deploying the BIG-IP LTM in front of redundant Adobe Flash Media Servers (v2) serving up live video streams via RTMP? I am trying to provide seamless stateful failover so that if the primary FMS server dies, customers' RTMP sessions will statefully fail over to the secondary FMS server, without the end-user having to manually reestablish the connection.

Thanks,

Adam

  • The BIG-IP can statefully mirror TCP streams and some other IP so if you turn connection mirroring on in the virtual server and if you're using a locally stored persist method, mirror that as well in the persistence profile. RTMP is tunneled over port 80 by default so I would expect you should be able to create a port 80 virtual and turn mirroring on.
