How do I find out why the fallback host was used?

I got a surprise this morning when I wound up on the fallback page. As far as I can tell, all the servers in the pools were up.

I'm trying to find out why I would up going to the fallback URL.

How can I determine this?

Also, what if I get rid of the fallback altogether?

thanks!

  • The only time this has happened to me is when my browser caching the redirect response.

If you got rid of your faillback host all together then you won't have this issue, but instead you lose the functionality all together.

  • Hi,

If you don't use iRules it may not be the best place for troubleshooting but some advices:

to get rid of the fallback host, it must be specified in the http profile assigned to your vs.

If you want to check that at a moment all your pool members were down you should have a look at /var/log/ltm
