SameBox(GTM listener= LTM VIP for DNS servers)

Has someone successfully configured a gtm+ltm using a vip for dns on the same box?

 

 

F5BoxA has gtm activated for wideip x.test1.com

 

the ns of the domain test1.com is the ip 10.1.1.1 (this ip is also the ns for test2.com)

 

 

10.1.1.1 is a VIP on F5BoxA who load balances to 2 dns servers 172.1.1.1 and 172.1.1.2.

 

 

If i put as listener 172.1.1.1, the gtm function perfectly in transparent mode processing the requests for x.test1.com and forwarding the requests for test2.com to the real server 172.1.1.1

 

 

If i try to put as listener 10.1.1.1, it is refused with an error message about a conflict with the ltm's vip( same ip same port same vlan..).

 

 

If i try to use an * listener by putting 0.0.0.0 as gtm listener adress, the gtm does not process anything: the requests are all hanled by the ltm vip.

 

 

 

This conf works well with serverirons from foundry but i m not sure it is supported by f5.

 

 

any idea ?
