BigIP Ltm && DNS

When you say this isn't working, what exactly do you mean? What sort of traffic are you sending to this Virtual and what is happening when it gets there? With some more details we may be able to help you figure out what's going on. As it is, there's not much info here to go on.

The test that i do is:

 

 

bash-2.05$ nslookup www.google.com 172.24.55.135

 

*** Can't find server name for address 172.24.55.135: Non-existent host/domain

 

*** Default servers are not available

Are you pool members UP? Is your virtual UP?. Can you run tcpdump on the BIGIP specificallying looking for packers from client to vip and vip to pool members?

The problem was solved by allowing the requests on our DNS servers from the VS and the load balancing DNS work fine but I’d like to have more information how to configure the monitoring (monitor DNS) and about the persistence( I use the source address persistence).

 

 

my problem now is the configuration of the monitor DNS???

 

 

any help?!!

 

what i put for exemple in "Send String"

You have lots of options for monitoring. You can simply check to see if the port is listening, you can send particular parameters in a send string and look for a certain response, etc.

 

 

To start with I'd work on setting up some simple monitoring that just checks to see if the node in question is up or not. Perhaps an ICMP check?

yeah, i use the udp default monitor as My DNS Monitor but i can't see what i put in the SEND STRING, i can can put any things but the pool is always UP???!!!!

You need to check the answer of your command to decide if it's up or down ^^

the ordinaire response of nslookup of DNS.
