- hooleylistCirrostratusAs it is, the license activation would fail if you tried to run BIG-IP in vmware. Check this post (Click here) for details. If this is something you'd like to see F5 support, I'd suggest you open a case with F5 support (https://websupport.f5.com) asking for your case to be attached to the existing Request For Enhancement.
- chall_14738NimbostratusI see what you mean - Still it seams like there should be a generic 30 day lic or something
- hooleylistCirrostratusYou can request an evaluation unit from F5 sales. But yes, it would be nice to do a demo using a vmware instance. Another support case demonstrating the demand for this would help raise the visibility of the request.
- bzzjh_12928NimbostratusI tested that BIG-IP 9.4.4 was be installed successfully on vmware, but license activation would fail.Maybe who can give me your mind?
- hooleylistCirrostratusHi bzzjh,
- bzzjh_12928NimbostratusIs there any progress about running bigip on vmware?
- hooleylistCirrostratusThis is something that can only really be pursued with a support case and followed up via your F5 salesperson.
- bzzjh_12928NimbostratusHello,hoolio
- hooleylistCirrostratusYep. I know that F5 runs LTM internally on vmware and it's just restricted by license. I've been trying to push them to allow external people like partners or customers to do this as well. If you open a case with F5 requesting this functionality, it raises the standing of the request within F5.
- JRahmAdminMaybe they could inject some latency and loss into the stream on the customer release versions so functionality could be tested but no one dare take a system like that to production...
