Any way to monitor for hardware failures?

I've found plenty of places to get started monitoring status of software objects, such as virtual servers and pools, but what I can't find is any way (through either SNMP or iControl) to poll a BIG-IP system for hardware failures, such as a failing hard drive or power supply. I've found at least some of this info in the list of SNMP traps, but I was hoping to find a way to poll for this information as well.

Any suggestions?

  • I knwo there is a way for big-ip system to let u know(send a mail) if any hardware fails on the big-ip system
  • You can configure the BIG-IP to send SNMP traps for specific error conditions like hardware failures. Try searching this forum for SNMP to get related links to AskF5 solutions. If you have any questions on what you find, let us know.
