Multicast through LTM

Is multicast supported on v9.4 yet? can i pass multicast traffic?

  • It is supported intra-vlan or across a vlan group with a db key modification. See SOL 9310 (Click here) for the full scoop.

  • I'll bump this thread a bit and ask the same question regarding v10.x... Is it possible to do L3 multicast routing now?

I don't recall seeing anything to say it was.

What sort of switches do you use? There's two possibilites that I can immediately think of.

    1. An ugly hack with cisco switches to configure a VLAN interface on the MSFC to route the multicast only. (Involves overriding the mroute and putting the upstream links into pim dense mode).

    2. Use an mrouter on the VLAN to tunnel the multicast to an mrouter outside the F5's (Could be a unix host running mrouted or [possibly, I haven't checked to be 100% certain] a cisco VRF)
