F5 auto last hop feature

Hi

With the F5 forwarding server we are returning traffic back to the client from the internet to where it originated to based on mac address.

The problem is we receieve traffic from 2 routers (in hsrp active/active) but the operator only wants to return to the one hsrp address in case of failure/failover.

Is there a way this can be done perhaps just fro traffic originating from these 2 routers? As we need this functionality for other servers (using the same virtual server). i.e. tell the f5 to send traffic that came from either mac of the hsrp address to send to the virtual.

  • This is something that would need to be supported on your routers, not the LTM. However, hsrp by default (on Cisco anyway) uses the virtual mac between the two routers. If you have an hsrp event, the mac your traffic will return to will not change, providing the behavior I think you desire.
