Link Controller - Link Routers on same vlan?

Hi all,

I'm dealing with the configuration of pair of LC in HA and I was wondering if it is possible to add several links located in the same vlan.

I've got a vlan with several routers, all with ip addresses on the same subnet. I am facing some problems with LC monitors. Although LTM monitors works fine on them and marks them as available, I can't make several link monitors working at the same time for routers on the same vlan, but I can for routers on different vlans. So, gateway pool works fine, but the dynamic ratio of the routers (links) aren't updated since LC monitors appear red (unavailable)

Is it possible to make LC monitors work on links (routers) on the same vlan?

I've been checking documentation and implementations for Link Controller, and all of them have routers on different vlans, but documentation doesn't explicitly say they have got to be on different vlans.

Thanks in advance!!

Javier

  • They do need to be on separate VLANs. LC uses the different SNAT addresses on different VLANs to keep track of which Link is used.

  • Thank you very much. That is what I suspected, but F5 support insists this must work.
