F5 stub implementation

Does anyone know if there is a F5 stub implementation utilizing the iControl API? I am looking for the ability to test code that uses the F5 APIs without having to go out and purchase a physical F5 for each test environment. Does this exist?

Thanks

  • Nothing at this point. There are roughly 3000 iControl methods in the API that are tightly coupled with the underlying database and system functions on the BIG-IP. We could create a shim that didn't return anything for the methods, but that would be fairly useless when testing out an application that relies on results from one method to drive input into another.

  • A nice solution to this would be if F5 supported running their products in Vmware. CR81856 notes this request for enhancement. If you'd like to raise the visibility of this request, you could open a case with F5 Support and ask to have your case attached to this change request.
