Gateway Pool routes persisting connections?

Hi all,

We have a pair of 1500 Link Controllers w/ 9.4.5 and have a basic route configuration with our default route using a gateway pool over 2 MPLS circuits (loadbalancing Round-Robin). The other day we had a circuit outage on one of our MPLS circuits at one of our remote sites and some users complained that they had no connectivity. When we had them send there traces they seem to be trying to go over the same (down) circuit. In the pool members status it showed that member or circuit being marked down (red) and the other circuit being up (green). After we dug a little deeper we found that the users that were complaining were all trying to access the down circuit and the other users that were working were using the active up circuit respectively. Furthermore, we tried changing the default route from using a gateway pool to a single static route pointing over the active up circuit. But still the users would still try to go over the down circuit path. Has anyone seen this behavior before? This has us concerned now because all of our offices are setup this way and our only workaround now is to force to standby or reboot. We have called F5 support but we have made little progress. My senses tell me this may be a bug, but I hope there is a simple explaination. Please help!!!

  • Did you get an answer from F5 Support on this already?

Do you have persistence enabled on the pool? Was the pool member marked down by a monitor or disabled in the pool or as a node?
