Cannot restore backup config

Can anyone help me with this. I was doing some work and before starting I made a backup of the configs, The config is named cs_backup_081109. After doing my work (which didn't work) I wanted to restore the configs.

At the command line

bigpipe config install cs_backup_081109.ucs

Returned this message

Reading configuration from /config/bigip_base.conf.

Reading configuration from /usr/bin/monitors/builtins/base_monitors.conf.

Reading configuration from /config/profile_base.conf.

Reading configuration from /config/daemon.conf.

Reading configuration from /config/bigip.conf.

Reading configuration from /config/bigip_local.conf.

Loading the configuration ...

BIGpipe: virtual server creation error:

01070361:3: VS vs_appv_server default pool appv_server member 10.69.91.153 must be directly connected to this machine

So the restore apparently did not work I don't see the other vs that was on there at the time.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Shawn

  • Did you reboot the system?

Did you see the config file to see if the vs is there but has not loaded up?

  • I have not rebooted yet because of the error. I logged into the gui and didn't see any changes made to it all.

Should I reboot eventhough I had that error message ?
  • no.

We have only one interface for this box. (We don't do alot of LB)

Nothing hardware wise has changed. The only thing we did was put an older config in the to test. When we finished testing we went to put back the config that we backed up and that is when the problems started.
  • Which LTM version are you running? It could be a bug noted in SOL7630:

SOL7630: MCP validation incorrectly indicates that member nodes are not directly connected

    https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/7000/600/sol7630.html

Else, maybe the error is caused by not having a route to the pool member and no self IP on the same subnet? Or perhaps the config is in bad state after loading two different units' UCS files. You might try opening a case with F5 Support so they can take a detailed look at the configuration.
