Virtual Server IPs missing when querying via SNMP

Hi,

When using SNMP walk to get the Virtual Server names (base: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2.3.1.1) all virtual servers are returned and all is well.

When then trying to find the IP address associated with the virtual servers (base: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.1.2.1.3), I find that some entries are missing.

Any ideas what is going on here - is it a bug in the SNMP implementation, or some weird configuration issue?

Im on BIG-IP 9.4.6 Build 401.0 Final running on a 3600 LTM.

Thanks,

Ben

  • Just in case anyone stumbles upon this with a similar issue, the problem was due to Net SNMP translating the IP addresses stored as HEX strings into ASCII characters and trying to display them. A quick read of the SNMP manual and telling it to treat the HEX as strings resolved the issue.
  • Thanks for clarifying. Out of curiosity, what SNMP server are you testing with? Or is it a custom tool using Perl?

  • Its a home brew php script using Net SNMP. It provides a single view of our systems from an external IP address, NAT to internal address, DNS and Big-IP configuration. Life saver when trying to troubleshoot complex multi-node systems!
