Problem with configsync, but data in web interface looks ok

Hi. I don't know what subforum use to post this question, hope you can help me:

I'm using two F5 BigIP units, the web interface apparently show correct data in configsync (Self, Peer...).

But when running 'csTest.pl -v' from inside the devices, the output is:

Status of daemons:

All required daemons are up and running (MCPD, CSSD, HTTPD, and BigDBD).

Configsync configuration:

Warning: No failover address configured for self.

Error: No peer IP address defined for configsync.

Configsync port: 443

Configsync username: admin

Acceptable time difference: 600 seconds

Your failover and configsync configuration is incomplete.

I don't know what's up. Sync isn't working but don't know what to do.

Should I reconfigure again from web interface? Any way to do it manually?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

This is the correct forum for config sync questions. Which version of LTM are you running?

In 10, there is a new requirement if you're using network failover for the two units to have connectivity to each other via the management interfaces with the peer management IP addresses configured in the Peer Management Address field:

SOL9947: Change in Behavior: The Peer Management Address setting and communication using the management port is required for BIG-IP version 10.x systems configured for network failover

    https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/9000/900/sol9947.html

There are also a few known issues with the csTest.pl script:

SOL9159: The csTest.pl script generates a spurious error message if the StateMirror.PeerIpaddr db key is not configured

    https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/9000/100/sol9159.html

SOL10147: The csTest.pl script does not test the Configsync.PeerIpaddr and Failover.Ipaddr database keys

    https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/10000/100/sol10147.html

SOL7024 has details on configuring and testing config sync:
