vCMP on 5200v

Hi, I want to know if there is an option for flexible resource allocation for guests on 5200v running version 11.4.

I couldn't find any deployment/configuration guide for vCMP on 5200v, although it is there for the viprion platforms but vcmp on 5200v is bit different because guest instances would not run on multiple slots.... just wondering if someone has recently implemented vCMP on 5200v pls share your experiences ?

Regards,

Akhtar

  • i do not have 5200 but 7200. in gui, it is "cores per guest" setting. in cli, it is "cores-per-slot". isn't it same as yours?

    e.g.

    root@(B7200-R14-S34)(cfg-sync Standalone)(Active)(/Common)(tmos) list vcmp guest test
    vcmp guest test {
        allowed-slots { 0 }
        cores-per-slot 8
        hostname test.localdomain
        initial-image BIGIP-11.4.0.2384.0.iso
        management-ip 1.1.1.1/24
        sym-unit-key $M$77$Bu44LKuEXUJKjWZH921s4zHeSYDHdWcHXSbBz9Cqffz8fYiuOLdUluN3Nvj91Kt4
    }

  • Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if you are running vCMP in production ? I understand the feature is available but is it recommended to use it at this stage ?

    actually i do not have production to run. :)

    anyway, i think it depends on how well the sizing is. if it is done correctly, vcmp should not be an issue.

    Are there any updates on running VCMP on a 5200

    i do see 5200v and 5250v in the sol.

  • Is vcmp recommended or stable on non viprion appliances ? like 5200v or 7200v ?
