Using IP's in a DNS worrld of GTM's

I have a unique problem which I can't imagine not being solved some where. I have a bunch of imaging systems that can only send to an IP Address. These are fairly common legacy systems that are very plentiful in todays world. I have redundent GTM's which can only resolve domain names. I have two data centers with different IP schemes. (10.100.XX.XX & 10.220.XX.XX) with GTM's at each data center. Is there a device or scheme for these imaging devices to send their IP Address to something, and resolve into a domain name to go to the GTM's. If the GTM detects the 10.100.XX.XX network is down it would switch over to the 10.220.xx.xx but again, only recieveing the IP address from the 10.100.xx.xx network but some how sending and resolving through the GTM's.

  • If I understand this correctly, the goal is to get your imaging servers which ONLY use IP addresses to redirect to a datacenter that is operable if their primary choice is down.

A GTM would not help in this scenario unless your imaging systems do a DNS lookup, which it sounds like they don't.

These things can be done with multicast. We do it with several services across the country. It involves network setup and other things.
